STRIKE - 21 Days Together

We called our lawyer yesterday to find out the status of our case and how much longer she expected us to be here in Cali. I am SOOOOOO glad I called. She was happy to report (through her daughter that interpreted) that we had successfully passed through step #1 of the court process but still had steps #2 & #3 to go.

We were shocked and not happy to hear that the courts had been shut down due to a strike for higher wages. The courts were shut down last Friday and again on Monday and will hopefully reopen today if the negotiations go well. We are praying that they can get this resolved quickly and that we can complete our court process as quickly as possible. This was not the most encouraging news. We have already been in Colombia 23 days and are eager to move on to Bogota for some change of scenery.

Our B&B is already packed with our family of five and the other family of four. We were just informed that another adoptive family is supposed to be arriving this weekend and we cannot even imagine squeezing any more adults or kids in this already crowded place.

We have to go eat lunch now but I will post more details later. Thank you for your prayers & comments!!!

YIKES! That is a ton of people in one B&B! Hopefully things will move quickly once the courts reopen. Have you looked into any thing that might be within a couple of hours drive that you could go and spend a night or two while you are waiting?

I know of places near Medellin & Bogota but not Cali. Maybe someone there can recommend a place. It might be nice just to have a change of scenery for a couple of days...and if there is another family coming, a break from a very crowded house! Once you get sentencia it will be a very busy day or two while you get everything you need together for Bogota and you probably won't notice the crowd so much.
