Thursday - Day Three Together

Today has been pretty smooth. Karl and I bathed & dressed all 3 kids ourselves, all before 9 am! Pretty good huh? We ate breakfast and then we toured a colonial section of Cali. We enjoyed that time out. Then we came home and ate lunch and then all 5 of us took long naps again which has been very helpful and much needed! Then we woke up and went to one of our host's sister's home in Cali and the girls waded and played in the kiddie pool while Papi and Andres watched and took photos and video. That was fun! Then we came home and ate dinner and then played with toys and Anji worked on a puzzle with Papi and Mami and Claudia read Jorge el Curioso (Curious George!)

Andres and eating has not gone well today unfortunately - he refused to much of anything. But he has been a tiny bit less fussy in general. The day went by very quickly. Mami & Papi are thankful that things are going as well as they are and are getting more used to our home away from home as well as this area of Colombia.

You wouldn't believe how people drive here - wow. Tons of people riding around on little motorcycles AND bicycles litterally swerving in front of fast moving cars! It is breath-taking. Lots of honking and neck jolting manuevers! The "lanes" are totally suggestions and anywhere a car thinks it can squeeze in to get a little farther ahead is game. And intersections are the most frightening because you have no idea if anyone is going to obey them or not! Today we almost got t-boned and it was just Mami in the back holding Andres and the girls sitting next to her - no seatbelts or carseats! Papi got some of this on video and pictures. Mami about had the big one when Claudia ran around the car to see Mami and in doing so ran out in front of an oncoming carro. Mami ran and grabbed her & Papi says he about broke down in a heap of tears - all this just trying to get out of the car in front of our B&B. She was supposed to be holding Reyna's hand but let go and ran I think so don't worry - we are being extremely careful!

We got TONS of kisses today! The girls love to give us kisses and hugs including blowing kisses to us and us to them. It is really precious. They keep saying how happy they are that we are their Papi & Mami. They have huge smiles and giggles and talk a lot! At lunch, the girls giggled almost non-stop as talked back & forth to each other! It was cute. They also like to share food with us and get up out of their chairs to come and kiss us. It is so sweet. We are CRAZY about these kids - all three of them - and are so, so, so very happy to be their parents and have this opportunity to blend together as a family. We are very, very, very blessed indeed! I love Claudia's look when you are reading Jorge el Curioso! Don't stress over Andres lack of eating, they all do that anyway without going through all the changes he has. To quote our ped., "He won't starve." :) You all are so great to keep us in the loop and let us get to know the kids as you are! We're in love, too!

Simply praising God for how He is working miracles in your family,

Whitney

I am so enjoying reading your posts - bless you for blessing all of us with yet another great update. And as Whitney said, kids won't starve! :) What an adorable family you are!

Your stories about driving reminds me of when we were in Puerto Rico years ago - no rules for what's a road or who has the right way. Praying for safety for all of you.

Love to you all,
Nicole

I know about the trafic in Cali, my husband hate to drive there he always says is very dangerous because the motorcicle they don't have any rules. Be carefull also with the taxis, try to take always one with a official number and try to keep this number for a while.
I don't want to scary you but guys, go around only where the people of your agency or hotel says is save, don't make your self an adventure.
Now you are a beautiful family and you must to take care of you.
Love to all
Jusie

Charles said...in China it is wheel to wheel, bicycle and scooters. In Japan you can't even own a car unless you have a place to park it at home and at work. Be careful!

Words cannot describe our overwhelming joy for you as parents and for your 3 incredibly beautiful children. We can't wait to meet them when you get home! I have teared so many times looking into all your eyes as a family; knowing that this journey was designed by God from the beginning. We love watching this unfold everyday. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it! We continue to pray for Andres and the girls. Do not worry too much about Andres; he will come around as we can testify to the same reactions Alena had in China. They will thrive when they come home!
