The "Lowes" Down

Well, we are ending this Friday thankful for the progress we have made. We are also sad that our vacation is almost over (but our fatigued bodies are relieved.)

This day has been interesting - our 5th consecutive Lowes trip (a record!) was a very long one that may consequently expand the scope of our bathroom remodeling endeavors. We have many more decisions to make and are already wondering where we will find the necessary time to undo the mess we have made.

A couple of good things about the Lowes trip are that we bought a much-needed new front door for discount that we'll install one of these days and we also found a nice quality laminate floor on mega-clearance for our entry way! Installation will be much easier and faster than our original flooring purchase because we have experience installing laminate flooring and the entry way is not very large so we are happy about that. (No, we don't get any advertising kick-backs.)

It is funny how it is hard to predict how long each aspect of a home improvement project will take. It's also funny how the magnitude of a project expands bigger & bigger & bigger as you delve into it.

Tomorrow will consist of ripping out the drywall in our shower area, trying to "clean up" the bathroom work area, gather the numerous items needing to go back to various home improvement stores, & attempting to straighten up the rest of the house for our sanity's sake.

Since we passed the structural/electrical inspection, we can now rip out the remaining wall studs and will be able to close up the ceiling in the entry way as soon as we can find a way to get some drywall home. (Most things fit in our station wagon but drywall is too easily damaged.)
